QuAMP Summer School

In 2001 the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Science Research Council) organised a Forward Look at Atomic and Molecular Physics Research in the UK. The final report stated that in order to reintegrate the UK atomic and molecular physics community, and to promote alliances with other related communities, a national conference in atomic, molecular, and related physics should be reinstated. In addition it suggested that a Summer School in Atomic and Molecular Physics for all newly starting PhD students would be highly beneficial in addressing quality issues, and offer excellent use of advanced teaching resources.

The Institute of Physics Division of Atomic Molecular Optical and Plasma Physics (DAMOPP) therefore undertook the task of organising a regular meeting (odd years) and summer school (even years) under the name of QuAMP (Quantum Atomic, Molecular, and Plasma Physics). The 2010 QuAMP summer school is held at Imperial College London.

Past venues of the QuAMP series include Open University at Milton Keynes (2003 and 2005), Durham University (2006), University College London (2007), Nottingham University (2008), and Leeds University (2009).

The 2010 QuAMP summer school is held in conjunction with the Summer School organised by the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) for Controlled Quantum Dynamics at Imperial College London. For the programme and registration, please visit the DTC summer school.
